4 Ways to Use Social Media in Your Marketing Plan

January 02, 2014 by Allison Carter

Social Media GoalsA new year is upon us and you are probably setting your marketing goals.  As you dive in to what your company hopes to achieve in 2014, be conscious of your social media goals.

Social media (such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+) can be a wonderful resource for businesses and organizations.  It is an easy way to connect with current customers and clients as well as reach out to new ones.  Social media campaigns can help your business in very tangible, and very unique, ways.

It is important to know why you are on spaces like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest and what you hope these platforms will do for you.

Goals for your 2014 social media could include:

1.  To get more website hits.
Social media can drive traffic to your website.  As followers on Twitter and Facebook see your posts and updates they can be motivated to click.  One click is all it takes to log one more website hit.  A well-designed website can keep them there.

2. To convert more leads in to clients, members, and customers.
Hits alone don’t yield more business, of course.  Frequently users come to a website, browse, and leave without purchasing or joining.  Social media can be used to remind customers of what you offer and that you are superior at it.

3. To create a sense of community and engagement.
Through Twitter and Facebook, your organization can have direct and easy dialog with customers and members. By fostering a sense of community, sharing useful information, and providing outstanding customer service, you can be the first place customers stop should they have a question or need industry information.

4. To increase visibility for your organization or company.
You can use social media to create brand loyalty.  Put your company in front of the general public multiple times a day, in useful ways.  Then, through these dynamic platforms, your company’s name, logo, and personality can constantly be on people’s screens, and eventually make their way in to their habits.

Any of these alone is a great reason to invest in your social media.  Make 2014 your year to be seen and heard through these new and amazing outlets and be sure to integrate them in to your full marketing plan!
